The small Ad Guide
Before you place your ad you should make some preparations. This will save you time and effort when you prepare your ad.
Selecting the category
In what category should I place my ad? This is a question that is frequently asked. The easiest way is to search for similar ads with the Search function. By clicking on one of the ads you find, you can see into which category the ad falls. The best thing is to note the main category and the sub-category on a sheet of paper.
Preparing the body of your ad
Please describe your ad in as much detail and as specifically as possible. The better your description, the more likely it is that someone will contact you. Are you thinking of including important additional information and special things in the body of the ad? Are you unavailable at certain times? When can the product be viewed? How old is the product? These are all questions that you can answer in the body of your ad.
Preparing images
Thanks to digital cameras it has become easy to quickly put out images onto the internet. But here too there are a few things you should note. You can place up to five images with your ad. The more images you show, the better the impression people get about what you are offering.
We can only accept images in JPG format. However, as this is the standard format of many cameras this rarely causes problems. If you first need to convert the images into the corresponding format, we can recommend this free software.
We will scale your images to a maximum height and width of 450 pixels. This reduces the volume of data on our server and visitors will be pleased about how quickly the page appears. So let us give you a tip: if you have the technical possibilities, you can get the images to this size before uploading them. This also shortens the loading times when you send images.
Box number or no box number
As a standard feature your telephone number and email address will be published in the ad. With a free box number option, people who are interested in your ad can contact you only by using a form. Your contact data will not be published. To give better protection to your private sphere this form is only visible to registered users. However, this also means that all users who are not registered cannot react to your ad. So you should only use this option if you feel that it is essential.
Further options
Your ad can appear in a particularly prominent position. Possible positions are the home page and the overviews of categories. You can book this additional placement for a small mark-up. Please note that other advertisers may also have booked this option. This is why the ads are rotated to this special position by means of a random generator.
